HistoryI was born July 13, 1960, in the American Hospital in Neuilly, France, just outside of Paris. The circumstances surrounding my birth are questionable; rumor has it I was the illegitimate child of someone from one of the embassies. In any event, I was adopted by Mom and Dad, and brought to the states before I was a year old. That makes me a naturalized U.S. Citizen, which means I can't be president. I guess it's time to make some alternate plans.I grew up in Montville, NJ, went to high school at Montclair Kimberley Academy, then went to Worcester Polytechnic Institute for Electrical Engineering. Where general electronics, involving soldering irons and transistors and LEDs was great fun, I found out EE is boring as hell, so after a year I "took a leave of absence", which, as far as I know, is still in effect. Eventually, I ended up working for J&J Box Corporation in Franklin, MA, as a VMS System Manager, then some years at Jamesbury Corp in Worcester, MA, then National Computer Systems, consulting (EDS, AT&T, etc.) until I got hired out of the consulting biz where I am today. What about now?I live in Epsom, NH, I work in Waltham MA at Savvis, I live aloneCan this get any more boring? You bet. I am a PADI-certified Advanced Open Water Diver. I dive in New Hampshire whenever I can (brrr) and in Florida (Palm Beach has a lot to offer.)I play keyboard, my current instrument is a Korg N1. I wish I found time to play more. I wish I played better. I wish I could sing. Life's a bitch, ain't it? Being a New Hampshire resident, I meet the mandatory minimum redneck quota by being an avid shooter of handguns and rifles. I'm pretty good. I do NOT shoot small (or large) furry animals. I DO shoot pieces of paper, aluminum cans, plastic milk jugs filled with water (they explode in an extraordinarily cool fashion) etc. I used to shoot in competition, but I got over it. I am a SAAB "enthusiast" (what a lame term). I have a 1985 SAAB 900. At the moment, it has about 360,000 miles on it, so it's almost broken in. I'm going for 500,000. I wonder if SAAB will give me a medal for my front grill. Currently the '85 is laid up for a bit of body work. It seems some water was leaking in somewhere and caused some rust in the passenger-side floorboard. Gotta get around to finishing that. I once had a 1978 SAAB 98 which was a most cool car. It was Kermit-the-Frog green, with a stuffed Frog in the back window whose eyes were LEDs, each one operated in unison with the corresponding taillight. It was eerie. Kermee, alas, has gone to SAAB heaven. Today my backup car is a 1989 900 with a mere almost 250k on it. and my daily car is a 1997 SAAB 900. I have been intending to get my single-engine private pilot license for the last ten or so years. Maybe next summer. Heads up. I once co-owned a restaurant. It went out of business. Can you believe it? I cook. I do not clean my house. Well, no more than I absolutely have to. I fix my own cars. I can do decent carpentry work, and fix most appliances, including washer/dryer/lawnmower/snowblower/toaster/vac/etc. It is specifically for that talent that I keep myself around. Since I do it for a living, I am also the family computer geek. Usually, phone calls from family involve some major crisis with Windows. Sometimes they call to say hi. My brother Peter has the decency to use MAC's in his photography studio. He doesn't ask me computer questions because I don't know Jack about MACs. | >
