Every year for a number of years we've sailed on the Isaac H. Evans, a 115 year old schooner out of Rockland, ME. She is owned and sailed by Brenda Walker, who is both a friend and a fine captain with an obvious natural talent for sailing.

This is the vacation around which my (and many other people's) year is planned, and I'd recommend it to anyone who has any interest in the ocean, doesn't get terribly seasick, and wants to do something a little different from the usual. It's a wonderful way to get away from the stress and hell that is life on the rock, and it's also surprisingly inexpensive. Check out the facts on the Isaac H. Evans and Captain Walker at Isaac H. Here are the pictures from our sailing trip September 17-22, 2001.

In some of these pictures you will see a cute teddy bear doing many of the same things we all do on the boat. This is TinaBear, who is standing in for a dear friend of ours who sails with us every year and was unable to come this time. She was sorely missed, and I know she missed us as well.
